MACAU (Day 1) 28.6.09

Macau International Airport

There were 6 of us departed to Macau from LCCT. Our flight was slightly delayed. We departed at 8.20am and reached Macau International Airport at 12.20pm. (the time in Macau is exactly the same as Malaysia). After we arrived, we exchanged some HK dollar into Pataca (MOP$) in the airport. Actually HK dollar is widely accepted in Macau. Next, we took bus to our hotel. There is a bus stop in front of the entrance. You can check out the bus to be taken by checking the boards at the bus stop.

Macau Tower. Seen as the bus crossing Sai Van Bridge. It offers a list of exciting adventure such as the World Highest Bungy Jump, the Skyjump, Skywalk X and Mast Climb.

Casino Macau Palace

Unfortunately, the bus we took stopped at the terminal before we can reach Victoria Hotel. We were forced to go off the bus by the driver. Bad starting of our journey in Macau i thought. With the haevy luggage, we have to walked to our hotel. But we meet this Casino Macau Palace in the middle of the way, this immediately lightened up my mood! Haha. I believed that we some luck in between. It took us about 10 minutes walk to reach Victoria Hotel.

Victoria Hotel

This is a 3-star hotel situated at the north of Macau. It is highly recommeded for budget tourist. We booked it throug Asiatravel.com with the rate of RM140 per night for double sharing room. It was clean and comfortable. It took 5-minute walk to reach the Barrier Gate to Zhuhai, China. Bus stations are nearby and lots of shops and restaurant around. Very convenient for us.

After checked in, we start our journey in Macau at 2.30pm. The cheapest way to travel around is by bus. For journeys on Macau penisula there is a flat price at MOP$3.20, to Taipa, MOP$4.20.

Here is where we dropped off. Senado Square.

This restaurant located in Senado Square famous with double layer milk.

Double layer milk (MOP$16) is a steam milk. It taste so good. Smooth and smell nice. I love it! The top one is steam egg with red bean. Not bad too, give it try!

Holy House of Mercy. Established by the first Bishop of Macau in 1569. It is the first western-style clinic and several other social welfare structure that still function to this day.

Senado Square. It has been Macau's urban center for centuries. The pastel-coloured neo-classical buildings are creating a consistent and harmonious Mediterranean atmosphere.

St Dominic's Church. It is connected to the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary. So, it was also named as 'Rose Church'.

Macanese snack, the 'Pork chop buns' of this stall is very nice. The bun was crispy and the chop taste just right. Must try!

Koi Kei Bakery is highly recomended for those who wants to bring handy souveniers home. This shop has 9 branches over Macau penisular and Taipa and it specialised in peanut candy. Other Macau delicacies also available here such as almond cakes (which i like the most), egg rolls, roasted meat slides. The street leading to Ruins of St. Paul's packed with shops selling Macau's delicacies. Some of the snacks even cook infront of you. Good thing is that, u can try them for free along the street until u feel full. Haha..

Ruins of ST. Paul's. It functions symbolically as an altar to the city. It's refer to the facade of what was originally the Church of Meter Dei built in 1602-1640, destroyed in fire in 1835, and the ruins of St. Paul's college, which stood adjacent to the church.

Mount Fortress. Built in 1617 to 1626. This was the city's principal military defence structure. Macau Museum also located at the same place, opened from 10am to 6pm.

It was raining when we were in Mount Fortress. We have to wait in the museum until the rain stops. It was around 5.30pm when we decided to take bus heading to Casino Venetian.

We went of the bus too early. But have to thank to the mistake we made, so that we have the chance to come to this beautiful places with romantic atmosphere~~~ Taipa Village
We took our dinner here before we moved on to our next destination.

Casino Venetian. The building was so gorgeous from inside out. Love it! From Casino Venetian, we took shuttle bus to ferry terminal and changed to Casino Lisboa shuttle bus..it's free!

Casino Lisboa. The night view of Casino Lisboa was really amazing!
It was already 11pm when we decided to go back hotel. We lined up in Casino Lisboa to take shuttle bus to barrier gate as it was free and near our hotel. We picked up the last shutte bus on that day... lucky ^^ We managed to 'dabao' some supper along the way while we're walking back to hotel from the barrier gate.

Reach victoria hotel at 12pm... tired but satisfied. Looking forward to explore Guangzhou !!!
